A Christmas spent in Alamos is to be cherished for a life time. Days are spent not in the pursuit of purchasing things to fill our all ready filled spaces; but spent in filling our hearts and senses. Taking in the crisp morning and evening air, with the smell of wood smoke, curling into the heavens.  Having the time to linger over delicious coffee and catching up on meaningful conversations.

Watching a village delight in preparing their simple but wonderful meat filled tamales that signal this is a special time of the year. The luminarias lit at dusk around the Plaza.  Seeing friends call our greetings to each other and warm embraces among families.  Hearing so much laughter and delighting at the bigger than life plastic Christmas creations on the roofs around the lower Plaza businesses.

During the daytime enjoy traditional Mexican lunches of Pozole, Tamales, Carnitas, Chile en Nogada, a great Hamburger or one of our Specialty Salads on the Sugar Mill portal or next to the fire place in the Cantina.
This Menu is available from December 20th to January 3rd. No reservations are needed for lunch during this time.

Hacienda nights are aglow with the lighting of many of the sixty fireplaces, hundreds of candles and the five Christmas Trees around the property. Soft guitar music filters through the air as you arrive to the Sugar Mill patio and  Zapata’s Cantina for your choice of libations and interesting conversations about everyone’s day.  Guests may choose to dine at the Community Table or privately in one of the four Colonial Dining Rooms all with Fireplaces burning.

Los Hacendados, a superb quartet, will serenade us for a few hours each evening. Many couples choose to dance or just listen to their melodic Mexican romantic music. Depending on the group they may break out into some lively Salsa Music and everyone will dance and celebrate because it is a great time of the year and you are in magical Alamos.

Christmas Eve begins with a live “Posada.” It is a reenactment of the journey of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter for the birth of our Lord. If you choose to participate you will feel that you were present on the Holiest of all Nights in Christendom.

For those dining at the Hacienda we will continue our evening with a Champagne Toast the Season.
