I remember vividly my first trips to the Okanagan in the late sixties when it was simply Rock n’ Roll and orchards. I did what most young men did back then, drove fast cars I couldn’t afford and chase girls I couldn’t catch. While I was born in the United Kingdom, I was raised in Vancouver, BC and hold British, Canadian and American citizenship.
I moved to Los Angeles, California in 1977 on business, followed by Seattle, Washington within a couple of years. It was in Seattle that I met and married my lovely bride Kathleen and returned home to Vancouver, living at False Creek for a few years. We then built a beautiful ocean front home in Point Roberts, Washington where we resided for 12 years. It was during the mid 90’s we started doing wine trips to the Kelowna area and continued to return regularly. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Okanagan had evolved just as we had, the Rock n’ Roll and orchards had become more Jazz and Vineyards. The more we came back the deeper the hook.
We sold our home in Washington in 2005 and purchased the Authentech show home in the Wilden development here in Kelowna. As the purchase required an eight month lease back to the builder, we spent that time at our hacienda in Alamos, Mexico returning April of 2006 and settled in. It has been without a doubt the best decision we have ever made. We love Kelowna and are blessed to be surrounded by wonderful neighbours here in Wilden together with an ideal four season environment.
I have a Shepherd/Lab cross named Guido who has been my constant companion and walking partner every day for the past 13 years. We are very proud of our lovely and talented daughter, Stacey, who is still in Vancouver and manages the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel. Now if we could just convince her and her husband to relocate here, to the best place on earth, life would be just about perfect!
